me
passionate – literate –
creative – intelligent – and above all, sincere
I believe in erotica as stories with the
sex left in - it seems wrong to be able to describe
dust in detail, but not sex, where relationships, characters,
and motivations really do change. My Lust Bites article, Stories
with the sex left in, explores this idea further.
I’m influenced by 20th century women’s
literature (Byatt & Co, rather than Fielding & Co),
lots of fantasy and sci-fi authors, occult and esoteric writings
– Jung, the Qabbalah, alchemy – and then very
loud mournful music and the right incense. All a bit intense
- if it weren’t for Monty Python and Blackadder I’d
probably have killed myself by now.
My erotic genres vary –
fantasy, realism, fairy tales – but I try to stay true
to my own beliefs in what is beautiful and have my characters
true to themselves. I usually impose some intellectual or
symbolic system, which threads through everything. It’s
for myself, mostly – it’s there if you want to
find it, otherwise it just provides richer, more exact detail.
(For some of the background riches to The
Ten Visions, read Samhain:
the time which is no time.)
I haven’t done everything I write.
I’ve never managed to raise the dead, see ghosts, speak
to the gods, or – despite many spontaneous attempts
and bruises – fly.
Oh – and one word of advice: no touching.
It’s so much more fun thatway.
